High-purity silicon, or poly silicon, is an essential part in the solar photovoltaic, or PV, supply chain. High-temperature heating of polysilicon results in ingots, which are sliced into wafers and further processed into solar cells and solar modules. When sunlight hits these cells, the silicon absorbs the energy and releases electrons.
